Under Armour Names Next Generation of Girls' Lacrosse Talent - 44 Named to Compete in First-Ever All-America Lacrosse Team

June 7, 2006 at 12:00 AM EDT

Baltimore, Md. June 7, 2006 - Under Armour®, in tandem with Corrigan Sports Enterprises, today announced the nation's top high school senior girls slated to compete in the first annual Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic. The selection committee organized by Inside Lacrosse and headed by former Georgetown head coach Kim Simons, spent rigorous hours watching and evaluating the best high school senior female lacrosse players from across the country. Ultimately 44 players were named to the roster and will be split into North and South teams to compete in the inaugural Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic on June 18th at 5 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md. (Rosters are listed below).

The All-American team features girls from as far away as Colorado and as many as 17 from the state of Maryland alone. The University of Virginia leads the way with seven future freshmen on the list, while two-time defending NCAA Champion Northwestern and Johns Hopkins each had four.

Kathy Taylor, the head coach at Fayetteville-Manlius in N.Y. for the last 18 years, will lead the North squad, while Sarah Aschenbach, now in her fifth year at Georgetown Visitation, will coach the South team.

The Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic will take place over the course of the weekend beginning June 16th and includes a series of clinics and scrimmages, culminating in a series of competitive games on Sunday, June 18th. Game day begins at 1 p.m. and then at 3 p.m. when the underclassmen girls and boys, respectively, take to the field for the Baltimore vs. Washington "Undeniably the Best" Game. Rosters for that game will be forthcoming. The unprecedented live telecast of the senior boys' All-America game by ESPN U, the 24-hour college sports network, will highlight the close of the Classic games and takes place on June 18th at 7 p.m. (Rosters were announced last week).

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster at 410-547-SEAT. Additional details are available at www.underarmourlacrosse.com.
